The STI Prevention Conference is a biennial conference that brings together international leading researchers with government experts, clinical STD care providers, and state and local public health administrators. The 2024 STI Prevention Conference was organized by the American Sexual Health Association, the American Sexually Transmitted Diseases Association, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the National Coalition of STD Directors.

The American Sexual Health Association (ASHA)
ASHA provides information directly to individuals and clinicians about sexual health and sexually transmitted infections (STls). For nearly 100 years, ASHA has helped millions learn how to protect themselves, talk to their partners and parents, know what to do if they have an STI, and much more. Today, ASHA remains a trusted source of reliable information not only on STls, but overall sexual health as well.
The American Sexually Transmitted Diseases Association (ASTDA)
ASTDA is an organization devoted to the control and study of sexually transmitted infections. Its objectives are:
- To support the control, prevention and ultimate eradication of STIs
- To support research in all aspects of STIs, including medical, epidemiologic, laboratory, social and behavioral studies
- To recognize outstanding contributions in STI control and prevention
- To disseminate authoritative information concerning STIs
- To develop the current and future generations of STI professionals
- To promote social justice as an antidote to the structural determinants of STI risk
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Division of STD Prevention (DSTDP)
CDC is the nation’s leading science-based, data-driven, service organization that protects the public’s health. CDC works 24/7 to protect America from health, safety and security threats, both foreign and in the U.S. CDC’s Division of STD Prevention (DSTDP) confronts the root causes of STIs by improving care and treatment access for the nation’s most disproportionately affected persons. DSTDP engages community, state, and national leaders and partners to serve the public and groups at higher risk of STIs and illness.
The National Coalition of STD Directors
NCSD is a national public health membership organization representing health department STD directors, their support staff, and community-based partners across 50 states, seven large cities, and five US territories. Providing leadership to support and advance STD prevention and control programs, NCSD advocates for effective policies, strategies, and sufficient resources for STD programs and endeavors to increase public awareness of the health and social impact of STDs.
